the essay analyses the theme of the lovers’ encounter in three masterpieces of European literature. Two of them, Vita Nuova and Elegia di Madonna Fiammetta (in its relationship with the Filocolo too), are focused as formal parallels and thematic backgrounds of the episode of the encounter between Calisto and Melibea in Fernando de Rojas’ La Celestina
